Dr Laura Prado
Laura Prado is a consultant neonatologist dedicated to caring for newborn babies and supporting families through the exciting and sometimes challenging first days of life.
Originally from Argentina, Laura completed her paediatric and neonatal training in Argentina and Canada before moving to Australia in 2018. She has worked in tertiary neonatal units across Australia, caring for babies ranging from healthy term newborns to extremely premature and critically ill infants. She is passionate about providing evidence-based, family-centred care and believes that clear communication and compassion are just as important as medical expertise.
Laura has a particular interest in neonatal intensive care, quality improvement, and improving outcomes for vulnerable newborns. She is actively involved in neonatal research, has contributed to several multicentre clinical trials, and enjoys teaching and mentoring the next generation of paediatricians and neonatal clinicians.
In addition to her work with Melbourne Neonatal Network, Laura also works as a consultant neonatologist in Geelong, and she is a state representative at the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network, maintaining a strong commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety and continuous improvement.
Outside of work, Laura loves spending time with her young son and their cocker spaniel, exploring Melbourne's parks and cafés, and travelling whenever she has the opportunity.
